David Bowie Kokeshi Doll by Sketch.inc for Lucie Kaas
Sketch.inc’s beautiful wooden dolls are hand-painted in England for Danish company, Lucie Kaas. These charming figurines are modern interpretations of traditional Japanese wooden Kokeshi dolls; re-envisioned as famous icons by Sketch.inc’s founder Becky Kemp.
This doll is inspired by British singer-songwriter David Bowie.
David Bowie was much more than a traditional artist. His revolutionary artistry expanded and broke down boundaries of sound, vision and, sexuality. After the success of Ziggy Stardust, the song “Life on Mars?” was re-released in 1973 to wide acclaim. The video, and David’s bright red hair, blue eyeshadow, pink lips and blue suit, became iconic.

Sketch.inc’s kokeshi dolls are made from beech wood, meticulously hand-painted, then sealed with Dola satin varnish.
