Old City Building Blocks Beige by Raduga Grez
The curvaceous and quirky Old City set of building blocks is hand-made by Raduga Grez in Russia. Part of their Slavic Fairytale collection, these blocks celebrate the shapely onion domes of Slavic architecture as well as its traditions and handicrafts. Historically, wood was probably the most popular construction material in traditional Russian architecture. Frequently surrounded by forests, this was the best choice for building houses and churches, and was often colored to add decorative elements to the buildings.
Raduga Grez is a family-run company that makes solid wood toys with the aim of 'celebrating creativity'. We envision their captivating toys being passed from one generation to another, loved by children and adults alike. Each toy is painted using non-toxic water-based paint and the natural grain and texture of each piece of wood is purposely preserved. Raduga Grez's carpenters have been making matryoshka dolls for three generations and their process remains very traditional. The wood used to make the toys is cut from whole round logs and the toys are painted and packaged in the same small workshop.
This set of domed blocks makes the perfect toy for imaginative play, or can be used as part of a decorative display. There are 14 pieces which come in a drawstring bag and pair beautifully with the Old City Rainbow set.
