The painterly Meaning of Color long matches by UK-based Archivist Gallery are practical and chic all at the same time. Featuring named colored squares with the meanings behind them written underneath, these extra long safety matchsticks and beautiful box make lighting fires, storm lanterns and birthday cake candles a breeze! 

This colorful box of matches was designed by The Pattern Book, a London-based design duo, who's inspired by imagery from archives, libraries, vintage shops and flea markets. They restore and rework illustrations sourced from out-of-print books, scientific texts, commercial catalogs and vintage maps. Many of their designs are instructional or educational in spirit, inspired by ‘how-to’ guides and taxonomical illustration, while others reflect a nostalgia for the interests and lifestyles of long ago.
